Reflections from the 10th CASSINI Hackathon: Mentoring Terra Pulse to 3rd Place
How 48 hours of rapid prototyping at RADIX in Pristina led team Terra Pulse to a 3rd place finish using EU Copernicus and Galileo satellite data.

The weekend of November 7–9, 2025, brought together Kosovo's software developers, designers, and entrepreneurs at RADIX in Pristina for the 10th CASSINI Hackathon: EU Space for Consumer Experience.
As technical mentors representing Postieri XYZ, we had the opportunity to work directly with teams over 48 hours as they built working prototypes powered by European space data.
48 Hours of Rapid Development
The hackathon challenged teams to ingest complex data streams from Copernicus (Earth observation) and Galileo (satellite positioning) to create practical consumer applications in travel, sports, and entertainment.
From initial wireframes and API exploration on Friday night to finalized code and live demo pitches on Sunday afternoon, the pace was intense.
Mentoring Team "Terra Pulse" to the Podium
A central highlight for us was mentoring Terra Pulse, a focused team consisting of Alpet Gexha (Backend & Integration), Aldi Krasniqi (UI/UX Engineering), and Lirak Hasani.
The team set out to build an intelligent travel companion that analyzes environmental satellite data to provide travelers with real-time route safety indices and conditions.
Working alongside fellow mentor Fatlum Zeka, we guided the team through:
- Backend Architecture: Structuring efficient data ingestion from Copernicus without slowing down client-side requests.
- Interface Polish: Ensuring the user interface was clean, responsive, and easy to navigate on mobile devices.
- Pitch Delivery: Crafting a concise technical demonstration that clearly communicated the product's value to the judging panel.
Their focus and execution paid off: Terra Pulse was awarded 3rd Place overall.
Congratulations to the Winning Teams
The quality of projects presented on Sunday was exceptionally high across all tracks:
- 1st Place: Astro Scout — A comprehensive application addressing real-world operational challenges with satellite imagery.
- 2nd Place: Trace It — An innovative concept applying space telemetry across logistics and consumer sectors.
- 3rd Place: Terra Pulse — Mentored by Postieri XYZ.
Next Steps
A special thank you to Prishtina REA for organizing an excellent event and to all fellow mentors and organizers who supported the participants throughout the weekend.
Events like the CASSINI Hackathon demonstrate the strong engineering talent in Kosovo. We are proud to have contributed to Terra Pulse's journey as they continue developing their prototype.
